Infill Housing

Infill housing refers to new home construction in areas with existing homes. One circumstance where infill housing may occur is in older neighborhoods where homes have become dilapidated and non-functional. In many bustling cities, these types of neighborhoods are within close proximity to popular areas where housing is in high demand. Infill housing is one method of addressing the demand for new homes in these areas. When one observes new homes interspersed between existing homes, that is an example of infill housing. It is quite the opposite of a new subdivision. However, home builders are still likely to allow a buyer to fully customize his or her new home. If it is located in a historic district, builders may encounter strict building constraints. Such restrictions are imposed to preserve the character of the neighborhood.
