Moving Expenses

Whether moving to a new dwelling a couple of blocks away or relocating across the country, moving expenses are an inevitable factor in any move. If someone is moving due to a job transfer, his or her company may pick up all or part of the relocation expenses, and the cost of moving can also be used as a tax write-off. Military members always receive a relocation allowance when they are transferred to another base. However, many people who move are responsible for all of their own moving expenses. Several ways exist to keep moving costs down. For instance, those who are moving to a region to which shipping is prohibitively expensive, such as Alaska, are advised to ship as little large objects such as furniture as possible. It’s much less expensive to purchase these items in the new location than it would be to have them shipped.
